Generate nationwide awareness among the people
on disaster risks and their management.
Work on the capacity building of local communities on disaster risk mitigation,
preparedness, rescue, relief, rehabilitation and reconstructions.
Exploit all available resources at times of emergencies to provide immediate
rescue and relief assistance to the victims of disasters.
The major issues of concerns related to natural resources: deforestation,
land/habitat degradation, and loss of biodiversity and for the conservation
and management of forests, rangelands and wetlands so as to maintain wildlife
habitat and sustenance of ecosystem services. Environment Nepa focuses
on institutional capacity building at national, regional and local level
to promote local stewardship of the natural resources.
While disasters create instant poverty through the loss of lives and productive assets, poverty accentuates natural disasters through encroachments in the high-risk marginal areas. Being a developing country, Nepal needs assistance and support from international communities and friendly nations to strengthen the capabilities for natural disaster prevention and reduction, making early warning system as the key element. Thus,Environment Nepal is working in partnership with National and International organization to buildup community’s awareness regarding Disaster Risk management.
